A Lifetime of Gigs

I like playing shows. Also the ones where I'm exhausted. Just getting up on a stage is like a medication for me. I've played hundreds, possibly near to a thousand shows over the last 10 years of my life.

However yet, it's only happened a few times, perhaps about four that I can absolutely keep in mind, where there's this ideal synergy between band and also reader. You take a look around and also the band is just clicking, the vibe is right, the energy is high combined with the crowd is absolutely right into the program.

These are those times: 

Roxy Cinema, Trinidad (October 1990) - My very first 'genuine' show with my thrash metal cover-band Warhead, I really did not even understand the a sound check was, I had not a clue what playing a 'rock show' required. Tt completion of our collection, the crowd was yelling our name, I was 16. We played an encore. The band lasted one more year before we called it a day. I believed my music career mored than then. Little did I know it was simply beginning.

El Mocambo, Toronto, Canada (November 2008) - From 2004 - 2008, I occasionally did solo shows. They just weren't my favourite however, this moment I played a solo acoustic program for a team of underprivileged migrant school children. They all wanted my autograph after. I've never ever experienced such thankfulness, I was 34. They never heard my music prior to. Such honesty combined with admiration.

Womad Event, London, England (July 2014) - Charlie Gillet Phase, 4pm show. The crowd was shouting for us (Kobo Town) in between every tune. They sang along to tunes they never ever listened to till that evening, I know this because we have actually never ever dipped into Womad before.
