A drawl is a type of speech, of any language, that is produced by extending the vowels in specific words during a discussion. In the USA (UNITED STATE), the English language, as spoken in the various geographic areas of the country, is more probable to have a drawl in the south as well as in the west. The phenomenon seems to be noticed a lot more by individuals from outside those areas that see those locations.
Don't perplex a drawl with an accent. People who connect as an ethnic group or that live for an extended amount of time in an area, will certainly tend to obtain a strange accent. I claim strange not to imply weird, yet rather it is an acquainted method of speaking that is mimicked when it is talked or heard repeatedly. While an accent, like the Southern UNITED STATE accent will differ regionally, the drawl within the accent is likely to continue to be the same. In other words, if you hear Southerners from South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, combined with various other locations claim something, you must be able to compare the other voices of those regions. They are all Southern, but the noise of their accents on the ear is like music sung by vocalists that have different tonal high qualities.
Nonetheless, if people from all those regions state, "Hey Y' all" with a drawl, the drawl should not be unique while the accents are. Some people believe that the use of a drawl indicates idleness or a relaxeded attitude by the individual. I might virtually agree with that if we are speaking about talking in the Southeastern U.S. throughout a high humidity August day. High moisture saps your stamina. But, Western climates do not showcase high humidity, so why do the Westerners have a drawl? My concept is that they do because the star John Wayne talked in an unique Western drawl in cowboy roles. Who from the West is going to have an issue with how "The Fight it out" talks?
Do those that drawl tend to have other practices that imply a laid back strategy to life? Perhaps, yes. In the Southeastern U.S., one that drawls can be fairly anticipated to transform his or her car into an intersection or into his/her driveway with a slow-moving pace that implies that their auto must have a guiding wheel the size of a wagon wheel. This slow motion turn out of a cars and truck can significantly distress the people in autos behind them, that have to endure the maneuver before they could get down the road.
Especially, a Northeastern urban-dweller, will likely roll down his home window to talk his/her trouble at the drawling slow-moving turner. However, this will certainly complete nothing, for the one who drawls will certainly interpret it as an attitude (other from either a drawl or an accent) that is associated with a Yankee (somebody from the Northeastern UNITED STATE) in an excellent rush and discouraged like an upset squirrel in a cage.
